Mother's Day Gift Dilemmas

Mother's Day, it's always a tricky one.

When you have a parent who's not so keen on the whole home-made gift idea but already has everything else well what do you get? This year I've decided to just embrace the home-made and damn the consequences. A gifts a gift right?

So I put my thinking hat on and decided to create one of these, a piece of word art.
There something you can buy anyway so why not use my initiative and make one myself.

I firstly tried Wordle, which I loved. So simple and easy to do and there are advanced options to funk it up a bit if you want to, but I couldn't get the shape idea I wanted ... so I moved through another couple of sites until I found Tagul.
After signing up I got to creating, and again it was so easy. Changing the colour and font style and even shape. Just what I wanted to do!
I made a few different designs and even tried inserting my own shape, still annoyed I couldn't get the effect I wanted with that, until I was happy while using the heart template they had.

Well, I thought I was after printing them (and realising I had no colour ink left - damn) I decided to alter them anyway.

Now just to purchase a nice frame and some chocolates and boom, present sorted. I hope anyway....

What gifts will you be giving for Mother's Day this year?

Large Baby comforter / Small Banket

Easy Baby Blanket

Today has turned into quite a happy day. I have managed to create a new mini baby blanket and even did some up of whilst the little one was up! :-)

I didn't tutorial this one because I thought it would be a bit too simple. However I've got plans for another (quilted perhaps?!) so I’ll tutorial that one instead :-) I also have a girl’s design and fabrics to create it as well, but that will have to wait until there’s a reason, or a recipient ;-)
It’s a simple design but the fleece on one side makes it so cuddly!! I’m loving the trains and how it keeps it looking boyish! :-)

I even practiced some topstitching and managed straight lines (ish!) without unpicking. Which is shocking for my first attempt in a while!
What do you think?
Would your little like one?!

Learning How to Blog

So I realised that it's all good creating a blog but if I didn't put the time in to actually work on the blog and continue to spread the word (as well as add posts) then what would be the point exactly?

I logged on and found that over this past month my page has been viewed 85 times. 85! Now that might not seem a lot but as I have tweeted just a handful of times now that's actually pretty damn surprising. It's really cheered me up :)
Given this I have been stumbling around the vast internet and very quickly came across a wonderful post on updating my header (HERE). Using this helpful advice and some creativity there is a new "fancy" header. Which I love :) - Well I sort of love because I'm still not 100% on what I've used as a name and if it needs more ... something... yeah that's how it is today; I'm lost for words!

So I've tinkered about with some minor bits and rechecked my previous posts for errors etc. You know all that boring stuff... I have a brother study English language and I know he'd go a bit blue if he saw how many spelling and grammar errors I make. Well that and the fact that I repeat words too much. Bad bad habits which I must escape!

On a lighter much happier note I picked up a tonne of material I'd ordered today. No joke 11kg of "scrap-box" pieces which turned out to be a wow buy with some huge pieces in! Plus some striped material to make myself a little something, and a metre of polka dots. Can't not love polka dots!
Now all I need to do is get myself in gear and actually create some of these ideas in my head.
Firstly I'm thinking a new comforter for little bear seeing as he thinks he's Iggle Piggle walking around with a blanket constantly! Doh!

Any suggestions from the viewers?
